  • Commit to Flip Blue and Swing Left Voter Outreach

Calling all Commit to Flip Blue activists in the Walnut Creek area who are ready to restore Democracy in 2020, starting with the special election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District!

We are starting up a new letter-writing program working with Swing Left. If we are to overcome gerrymandering and voter suppression, we need to target potential voters in Swing states, such as those who were registered but have since moved and have not yet re-registered to vote.

Swing Left has a letter writing campaign to urge these potential voters to vote or to register. If you wrote postcards you CAN do this; in fact, it is easier. You will personalize preprinted letters with the voter’s name, and a one- to two-line message, then sign the letter and address the envelop. We will need your stamps! You can come and write letters for one hour or more, however long you would like.

Our first campaign will be to write these letters for the Special Election in the North Carolina 9th Congressional District. Increasing voter turn out in North Carolina is one of Commit to Flip Blue’s targets for 2020. We start now. Later we will switch to writing to urge people to register and include voter registration forms in the letters. These campaigns are reputed to increase eventual voter turnout by 3%. That could be the margin of victory.

The letter writing will take place at the Gateway Community Center in Rossmoor, on Wednesdays form 4 to 6 pm, starting on April 17.  Go to our EVENTS page, and you can RSVP for the dates that work for you!

  • Sharing our 2020 Strategy

We are excited to announce our 2020 strategy! Our focus is to Flip the Senate and protect our California seats. So, what about the Presidency? Of course, we are going to do whatever it takes to get Trump out of office. However, we must flip the Senate in order to give the new President a legislature to work with. It’s all hands-on deck. You in? We are!!

What races will we focus on? The success of the 2020 election at all levels will depend on a broad coalition of all people of color, women, liberal whites, and millennial voters to claim power at the polls. We believe 2020 is the year to build the biggest coalition we have ever seen, and we are going to start right now.

    Flip the Senate:

    • Arizona – we can mobilize Latino voters by using skills built in the California races
    • Colorado – we can flip this Senate seat in a reliably blue state
    • Maine – we can flip this Senate seat in Presidential year blue state
    • North Carolina – we can mobilize African American voters in a state we need to flip blue

Protect and Expand the California House Seats:

    • CA CD-21: TJ Cox won by 800 votes. We need to help TJ win again in 2020.
    • CA CD-22: Devin Nunes has been knocked down by significant percentage points this last election. Let’s use the 2020 Presidential year to finally get him out of office.

Please join us as we work as hard as we possibly can to reverse the damaging effects of the last two years. It is our time now. Sign up to be a leader today!
